A Forest in a Single Stone: A 7.4 ct Green Sapphire Engagement Ring
A couple came to us wanting a lush, verdant green. We found them a 7.4 ct green sapphire and set it with diamonds from family heirloom jewelry.
When this couple first sat down with us, the conversation centered on two things: a green stone with a lush, verdant color, like a forest after rain, and a way to bring diamonds from family heirloom jewelry into the new ring. Our job was to find a sapphire that matched.
The search for a true green
True green sapphires are harder to find than most people expect. Many stones sold as green lean noticeably blue or yellow, and many of the deepest greens lose their brightness, turning dark and inky in everyday light. We were looking for a stone that held both: a saturated, honest green that still comes alive when it catches the light.
The sapphire we found weighs 7.4 carats, and it has exactly the depth our clients described. In the shade it reads like moss and evergreen. In the sun it seems to glow from within.

Diamonds with a history
Slender claw prongs in 14k yellow gold hold the sapphire securely while letting as much of the stone show as possible. Down the band, we set pavé diamonds taken from family heirloom jewelry. Reusing family stones is one of our favorite parts of bespoke work. The diamonds keep their history, and the new ring carries a little of the generations that came before into the next chapter.
The story continues
This fall, the same couple came back to us to design their wedding bands. We hope to share them here when they're finished.
Thinking about a green sapphire?
Green sapphires have become one of the most requested stones in our studio, and no two are alike. Some lean toward deep forest, some toward sea glass, and some shift between green, teal and gold as they move. If you're drawn to one, book a complimentary consultation and we'll search for the green that's right for you, or read more about how our bespoke process works.
