Five pieces I keep reaching for this week: a green sapphire that looks like light through leaves, a ring I carved by hand in wax, and three antiques that have been waiting more than a century for their next chapter.

Hexagon Green Sapphire Slide Necklace, 1.23 ct
The deep green of a forest clearing, held in pairs of slender claws with no bail at all, so the stone floats right on the chain. Australian sapphires like this one have a quiet, inky depth that I love against warm gold. An easy everyday piece with the presence of something rare.

A big, buttery Old European cut diamond in an ornate Victorian crown setting, cut to catch candlelight. The statement piece of the week.

Textured Old European Cut Diamond Solitaire, 0.59 ct
I carved this one in wax by hand, then cast it and set an antique Old European cut diamond in four chunky prongs. The bark-like texture runs all the way around the band, earthy and grounded, while the old diamond gives off that soft candlelit glow.

Victorian Garnet Half Hoop Ring, approx. 1.0 ctw
Five cushion garnets in the deep plum of a ripe damson, not the brick red most people picture. Turn it on its side for the scrolling wirework gallery, and look inside for a full set of British hallmarks recording where and when it was made.

Three little rubies with flecks of diamond between, low and easy to stack. A lovely first antique, and British hallmarked.
