For us, it’s about doing the work to understand—and share—a gem’s journey: where it was mined, how it was cut, and who handled it along the way. That clarity helps us make more responsible choices and create jewelry that aligns with our values.

We work with trusted partners who prioritize traceability, fair labor practices, and responsible sourcing. Many of these relationships have been built over years, and they’re rooted in shared ethics, mutual respect, and a commitment to doing things differently.

But transparency also means acknowledging what we don’t know.

Despite our best efforts, there are times when a stone’s full origin story isn’t available. Maybe the supply chain wasn’t documented clearly, or the stone passed through too many hands before landing with a dealer. In those cases, we’ll always be honest with you. If we can’t answer your deeper questions about a gem’s background, we’ll tell you that—because we believe you deserve the truth, not a polished marketing story.

That’s something I heard at the Responsible Jewelry Conference in Chicago a couple of years ago, and it stuck with me. When a gemstone’s journey is traceable—when we know who mined it, who cut it, and how it moved through the supply chain—the price reflects the true cost of doing things ethically. Everything else? That’s the discount version, made cheaper by cutting corners or leaving people out of the equation.

Working with transparent sourcing partners means more of the value stays with the people who matter most: the miners, cutters, and communities at the start of the supply chain. It’s about equity, not excess.
