Our Classic Diamond rings can be made with your choice of an earth-mined diamond, a lab-grown diamond or a moissanite.

The diamonds that are available for our Classic Diamond Collection search tool are sourced from a US-based vendor with offices in New York and India. Through our partnership with them, we have virtual access to their complete inventory, allowing us to provide you with a wide variety of both earth-mined and lab-grown diamonds. All of the diamonds in this collection include diamond grading certificates and are conflict-free.

In the event that we cannot source a post-consumer diamond with the right specifications for your made-to-order ring, we will use a conflict-free diamond sourced from one of our trusted vendors.

These conflict-free diamonds are certified via the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme which requires diamond traders to follow steps to warrant that the their diamond rough is not being used to finance wars against governments around the world.

A lab-created diamond is a man-made alternative to natural diamonds. These diamonds are created in a laboratory using advanced technology that simulates the conditions under which diamonds form in the Earth's mantle. Lab-created diamonds have the same physical and chemical properties as natural diamonds, with the only difference being their origin. They are chemically identical to natural diamonds and possess the same brilliance, hardness, and durability.

Moissanite is a gemstone that resembles diamond in its appearance and physical properties. Small traces of moissanite were originally mined in Arizona and were thought to be diamonds for the first 7 years after it was discovered! Moissanites are well known for their display of brilliance and fire. Their sparkle is quite colorful when compared to a diamond.

All moissanite is created in a laboratory using advanced technology that simulates the crystal's natural growth.  Lab-created moissanite have the same physical and chemical properties as naturally-occurring moissanite, with the only difference being their origin. Moissanites are a popular alternative to diamonds as they are less expensive but still offer a similar look and quality.

Absolutely! We offer a bespoke diamond sourcing service to match you up with the diamond of your dreams. If you don't see the stone size, shape or quality that you want in our Classic Diamond collection, drop us a note at info@storicastudio.com, call us at 206-624-6122 or use our handy chat feature to start a conversation about diamond sourcing.

Moissanites are actually 15% lighter than diamonds and because of this, they are cut at “diamond equivalent” sizes. This means that a 6mm round moissanite will weigh 15% less than a 6mm diamond.

Other Customizations

When ordering a Classic Diamond ring, you can select your preferred metal and ring size.

Our made-to-order rings are available in:

  • 14k and 18k Yellow gold
  • 14k and 18K White gold
  • 14k and 18K Rose gold
  • Platinum

Karat is used as the unit of measurement of gold purity in metal.

Carat is the unit of measurement for the weight of diamonds and gemstones.

White gold is yellow gold mixed with other alloys, mainly nickel and/or palladium, to brighten the metal to a whitish-grey color.

Most white gold jewelry is then electroplated with rhodium to give it an extra bright white look. The rhodium layer can wear off over time but can be re-plated at any time in the future to restore its bright white color. If you prefer that we not rhodium-plate your white gold jewelry, please contact us when placing your order.

Platinum is a white metal on its own! Platinum is a very strong but malleable metal. Because of these properties, with normal wear, platinum will eventually show micro-abrasions which give it a unique and beautiful matte patina.

Ring sizing can be tricky, especially if you are trying to keep this ring a surprise. Please reach out with any questions about sizing. We are happy to send you a complimentary ring sizer before you order.

All of our made-to-order rings come with a complimentary ring resize. If the ordered ring size is not correct, we can have it resized up or down by 1 size at no additional cost.

*resizes larger than 1 size difference (up or down) may incur additional cost

We would love to work with you on customizations to these rings via our Bespoke Design process. Please visit our Bespoke Jewelry page for more information on how this process works.
