Primrose | Victorian Old European Cut Diamond Solitaire, 1.49 ct GIA
Primrose is named for the pale yellow flower of early spring, and its 1.49 ct Old European cut diamond carries the same soft, buttery warmth. Cut long before modern machines, its broad, chunky facets were shaped to catch candlelight, so instead of an icy sparkle it gives big, slow flashes of light that seem to bloom from deep inside the stone. The original Victorian mounting holds it in six slender claws on a tall crown-style head pierced with scrolling loops, while finely engraved feathered lines, softened by a dark antique patina, sweep down the shoulders into a slim band of 14k yellow gold. The prongs have been carefully rebuilt, so it's ready for another century of everyday wear.
