Bitterroot | Step-Cut Montana Sapphire, 3.18 ct, Unheated
Bitterroot takes its name from Montana's state flower, a tough little bloom of the mountain West. This 3.18 ct sapphire was mined in Montana and has never been heated or treated, so every shade in it is exactly as the earth made it. On the hand it glows a soft, luminous seafoam green. Look closer and you'll find a deeper green at its heart, icy blue-green at the edges, and a faint blush of peach along one end. A long baguette step cut lays the facets out in clean, parallel lines, like looking down a corridor of glass. A rare American gem with nothing to hide, ready to become the heart of a remarkable ring or pendant.
